As Christmas approaches, reports say the prince and princess are keen to create lasting memories for their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The couple are committed to making the holiday special.

Traditionally, the royal family's Christmas Day walk to church has been a highlight of the season, but that could soon change. King Charles has expressed a desire to modernize the monarchy, and Prince William could be looking to make even bigger changes. Queen Elizabeth II has made the walk to church more public during her reign, while it has remained a private event for decades. Sources say William and Catherine are considering a more typical family Christmas routine.

They may alternate spending time with both sets of grandparents, planning to celebrate Christmas every other week with the Middletons. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla will return to Wiltshire after Christmas for a private family gathering, marking another break from royal tradition. King Charles is expected to visit his Scottish estate at Birkhall after the traditional Boxing Day photo shoot. Unlike his mother, who spent Christmas at Sandringham for four decades, his approach appears to be different. Managing a large family over the festive period can be challenging, and the royals have struggled to find sleeping arrangements.

Reports suggest they have been sleeping on uncomfortable beds during their stay at Sandringham. Sandringham can comfortably accommodate around 16 to 18 guests, but Prince William has spoken of wanting to celebrate with 45 family members, suggesting it will be crowded. It has been suggested that some family members may be moved to staff accommodation to accommodate everyone. The family has a tradition of exchanging humorous gifts at Christmas, bringing much laughter to Sandringham.

In his memoir, Prince Harry notes that the family gathers on Christmas Eve to open presents, a custom that originated in Germany. While he was previously the biggest joker, experts believe that King Charles has now taken on the role, showing off his sense of humour amid the formalities. Prince William recently revealed that he does not wear a Christmas jumper. This year, the Welsh family will join King Charles at Sandringham for the annual celebrations, but also plan to enjoy some private moments together as a close-knit family.

This year has been particularly difficult due to significant health issues within the royal family, affecting both Princess Katherine and the king. Princess Catherine has gradually returned to public duties following her health struggles, underscoring her dedication to royal duties while focusing on her health and family. Throughout this journey, Prince William has been actively supporting his wife, prioritizing her health and the needs of their family.
