Like many parents, William and Catherine are likely to be busy planning fun festive activities and ways to give back to their local community. The family recently visited Lapland UK in Ascot, a magical place with reindeer, a toy factory and enchanting forests. The royals dressed casually on this relaxed outing in December 2022. The children also brought along matching stuffed animals.
They were later seen with nanny Teresa Tondalo, enjoying more festive activities. The prince and princess, who love to engage with the public, picked up their Christmas tree from a shop in Berkshire, near their home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor last year. It was fitting that they chose a tree from Windsor Great Park, as it is a family tradition followed by both King Charles and the late Queen. The Welsh family usually spend Christmas at the Sandringham Estate, along with other royals who stay at Amner Hall in Norfolk.
Locals were surprised to spot Catherine with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Eric's Fish and Chip Shop in Thorpe, noting that the establishment has become so popular that it is now "officially fit for a royal". In 2020, the family walked through the annual Luminate Festival light trail in Sandringham, which has caused some controversy during the pandemic. Reports suggest that the Princess of Wales could create a new Christmas tradition in 2024 by hosting a rival Christmas party at Sandringham, attended by her parents, Mike and Carol.
The party is expected to be a huge affair, with the Princess hosting one of her most cherished events in just a few weeks, with the aim of holding Together at Christmas in 2024 despite her recent health challenges. The event is important to her and she has been heavily involved in the preparations. Last year marked the first time Prince Louis attended Together at Christmas. If the royals do gather again later in the year, it will certainly be a much-needed break for the family, especially as William has described 2024 as his most difficult year due to the challenges.
The theme of this year's concert reflects the difficulties faced in recent months. An official statement from Kensington Palace notes that Katherine’s Christmas concert will highlight love, compassion and the importance of unity in difficult times. Westminster Abbey will feature nature-inspired Christmas decorations, possibly with the participation of Prince William, who recently headlined the Earthshot Awards in Cape Town. For those unable to attend the concert at Westminster Abbey, 15 Together at Christmas community services will be held across the UK, supported by the Royal Foundation.
