Whether it's forgetting World Book Day is tomorrow or realising they don't have time to create an elaborate homemade Halloween costume, many parents can relate. The spooky season is a favourite time for children, with activities such as apple fishing, pumpkin carving and plenty of sweets and chocolate, which explains their enthusiasm for the holiday. However, for parents trying to make the experience memorable for their children, it means adding more to their usual to-do list.
Catherine has been in high spirits since announcing the end of her cancer treatment last September. A source said she plans to maintain a lighter workload in the coming months after returning to royal duties a few weeks ago. Her husband, Prince William, has continued to prioritise her health following the announcement that she was in remission. Despite being future royals, their primary role is as parents and they have been reported to prioritise spending time with their children over everything else, including taking part in school pick-ups and making family dinners themselves.
Despite their prominent roles in the royal family, they have faced their share of parenting challenges, such as one memorable incident from five years ago. In 2019, Catherine was seen making a quick supermarket trip with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Another shopper, Kathy Whitaker, was surprised to see a princess accompanied by a bodyguard taking part in such a routine activity. While at a supermarket in Norfolk, she asked her children if they would like to dress up while using a self-service checkout to complete their purchases.
This is not the first time Catherine has been spotted in mainstream retail; in 2018, she was spotted browsing a discount store in Kings Lynn and again in 2020 at a Sainsbury's near their home, Anmer Hall. The royal mother is often seen wearing clothes from a number of major UK retailers, including Marks & Spencer, Whistles, Reiss and Zara. On Halloween, both the Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to take their children trick-or-treating. While living at Kensington Palace, they were seen on a neighbour's security camera trick-or-treating in London, with their children dressed up for the occasion. At the time, Catherine was photographed carrying a bag believed to be filled with sweets.
The family has not shared photos of their children’s Halloween celebrations on their official social media accounts. A recent source said that Catherine is enjoying reconnecting with the public and representing her family, while also trying to balance royal duties and her personal health. Now 42, Catherine is feeling much more energetic than she did a few weeks ago, expressing relief that her treatments have worked, allowing her to declare herself cancer-free, although she remains cautious and follows the advice of her doctors, taking things one step at a time.
Experts continue to speculate about potential health crises for the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry. When William discussed his experiences with his mother, he was right to insist that discussing Harry’s presence in those memories was accurate but did not imply forgiveness or a desire for reconciliation. Although William briefly mentioned his brother in the recent documentary, it seems that Catherine, the Crown and the Prince of Wales remain their top priorities.
