According to sources, Princess Charlotte was seen shopping in London with her aunt, Duchess Sophie, and cousin, Lady Louise Windsor. An insider noted that the relationship between Charlotte and Duchess Sophie has become stronger, with Sophie often taking Charlotte out to various fashion stores.

Their relationship has been evident at a number of public events, where they have been photographed sharing warm interactions. A senior royal source revealed that their friendship remains strong outside of official duties, with the two often going shopping in Chelsea and Knightsbridge. The source described the relationship as “really touching,” during one outing.

The group visited Peter Jones on King’s Road, along with Lady Louise, who is also very fond of Charlotte but spends little time with her as she is mostly in Scotland studying at university. Louise recently completed her second year at the University of St. Andrews.

It is also said that Sophie's close friendship with Charlotte brings joy to Princess Catherine, especially as Catherine has limited her own engagements while Sophie recovers from cancer. As the two families prepare for a holiday together, Charlotte will have more opportunities to bond with her great aunt at the Scottish estate, which is considered a favorite summer retreat for the royal family.

The gathering is expected to include the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, along with Princess Anne and her family, Peter Phillips and his daughters, and the daughters of the Duke of York. King Charles is said to have invited them all.
