While it’s well known that he enjoyed riding motorbikes when he was younger, his wife Catherine has previously said that her passion for them worries her. William’s presence speeding around the castle grounds has delighted fans around the world. However, concerns have been raised over his lack of a helmet, which is particularly worrying for Catherine, especially following her recent battle with cancer and chemotherapy. A previous incident where the Prince was seen riding an electric scooter at Windsor Castle also raised alarms, with Catherine worried about his safety amid his busy schedule.
An insider has mentioned that William is constantly tired due to his many responsibilities. Riding a scooter without a helmet could result in serious injury if he fell. Given their current situation, she did not want him to end up in hospital. While Katherine tried to avoid bothering him, she was upset to learn that he was not wearing a helmet, which made her nervous about the risk of harm. These concerns were compounded by the fact that they had three young children: George, Charlotte and Louis. The prospect of their father being injured made her even more anxious.
Catherine, however, seemed more concerned about William, who reassured her that he was going slowly and that there was nothing to worry about. The family was going through a difficult time, especially since Catherine had declared her health, while William enjoyed adventurous activities. His adventurous nature often led him to seek adrenaline-pumping experiences. The daily challenges for both of them were stressful as he was constantly moving from meeting to meeting without much rest.
The fact that he rides a tram around Buckingham Palace instead of walking shows how busy he is. William insists that riding a tram is for fun, not recklessness. However, that hasn't eased Catherine's concerns, and she seems reluctant to drop the subject. For William's peace of mind, wearing a helmet would certainly help Katherine feel better. Fortunately, Catherine's health is improving. However, after months of him urging her to prioritize her health, she hopes he will do the same.
Catherine has previously expressed her concerns about his motorcycling habits. During a trip to Dandi in 2015, she expressed her fear of him cycling, describing it as terrifying. Although William still rides a motorbike, he has recently opted for an electric scooter as a quick way to get around when visiting the king. He has a longstanding interest in motorcycles and was even seen riding one just before his wedding in 2011.
On his recent engagement, after a tour of the set, William was in charge of a large film camera, humorously hinting at the need for real cycling. He commented positively on the equipment, but Catherine urged him to be more cautious because of his role as a father. In 2018, he admitted that becoming a father of three had made him scale back his cycling adventures, reflecting on the limitations he now faces compared to his earlier days.
